Dr. Al-Marayati spent 11 years in private practice where she focused on gynecology with a major emphasis on contraception, cancer screening, menopause and gynecologic surgery. Over the past 7 years, she has worked in the community health setting and was the Director of Women's Health at the Northeast Valley Health Corporation before joining the faculty at USC. Dr. Al-Marayati currently serves as the Director of Women's Health at the Eisner Pediatric and Family Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles. In that capacity, she oversees a 30 member physician and midwife panel that provides hospitalist care for obstetric and gynecologic patients at California Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Al-Marayati has been involved in numerous activities, both internationally and nationally, that relate to the promotion of the rights of Muslim women, particularly in terms of reproductive health. In her current position at USC, Dr. Al-Marayati will be involved with developing a curriculum that incorporates the use of a simulation model for obstetrical training for medical and nursing students, residents and faculty.
